Are there other a better alternative to xlr connectors for valves, float switches etc.?

XLRs are certainly robust but are not space efficient when using a bunch. I like the 3 to 5 pin round connectors like: https://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=61_62&products_id=641
