Is there a way to reset an interface device (Mega/NodeMCU/etc) in the software? I couldn't figure out a way to do it in software alone. One way is to have a pull down (2n7000 or such) on the RESET pin that was triggered by some other one shot digital output.
A simpler answer might be a schottky diode (to ensure a good logic level) from RESET to another digital pin that can pull it down, but I don't know if that might cause a startup problem.

Sorry... never saw this. I don't know why you would want to reset a microcontroller via itself. If it is working and communicating, it is working and will not need a reset. If it is not working or communicating, it wouldn't be able to reset itself anyway.
