Hi im new to BruControl and i see that the general way of messuring volum during the brewday is by the use of pressure sensors. why not use a setup of loade cell and a HX711?
i dont know what accuracy i can expect on a pressure sensor in a 7Gal pot, but i guess it will easily be 0.5L?
If using a setup with HX711 it would give perhaps 0.05L accuracy?
pros and cons?
Thanks.
You can use a load cell. Some people do but there are some shortcomings, like all. Physically, they are tough to set up, and they can creep. Also understand you will get different measurements with lid on/off etc.
BruControl can't natively read a HX711 (yet) - you need to use an analog output version and input that into the interface.
Any chance support for HX711 using Arduino library any time soon? Or more detail how to interface load cells?
Thanks,
Forrest
Ok. Guess I’ll just use Arduino Due I have already DAC to BruControl Mega analog.
Analog is your best bet right now.
We'll add native I2C at some point.
Yes, it is possible to obtain load cell that feeds directly into the PLC, however, this load cell type will need to have either an internal signal conditioner or both an internal signal conditioner and a digital signal processor circuit. The former would be able to feed in directly into the analog input of the PLC, however, it should also be able to match the specifications of the PLC’s ADC; The latter would be able to feed in directly to the digital input of the PLC. Tacuna systems ( https://tacunasystems.com/) offer a wide range of load cells, signal conditioners, amplifiers, and load indicators.
