Which Temp Sensor Works Best, 1 Wire or RTD PT100?

I am planning my attack on what to put into the UniCon I am building and I wanted to know which temperature sensors work best, can you give me clarity on this?

I've been trying to get into BruControl recently.  There is a post over on HomeBrewTalk forums that everyone seems to be posting in.  The downside is that it is 138 pages long now and extremely time-consuming to decipher information from it.

Sorry guys... this form has been getting spammed and I'm not always seeing new posts correctly. 

 

Sensor choice is really up to you. All are OK for brewing. If you prefer to buy rather than build your own probes, I would suggest you identify which physical configuration is going to meet your needs best. For example, if a probe vendor sells a tri-clamp style that will mount in your brewery well, then that might make the decision for you. Here are some pros & cons of the three types:

 

1-wire: Pros: Inexpensive, fairly accurate, easy to integrate (wire), easy to change (add/delete probes), decent cable length, moderately immune to noise when shielded properly. Cons: Slow reading in multiples (5+), not many physical configurations available (e.g. threaded probe lengths, etc.), large thermowell diameter required. BruControl has a universal probe available, which includes a 4" x 1/4" stainless straight probe, waterproof design, jacketed 10' shielded cable, and 3.5mm plug integrated.

RTD: Pros: Most accurate, fairly immune to noise, decent cable length, many physical configurations available, fast reading in multiples, very small thermowell needed. Cons: Requires additional amplifier hardware to integrate into BruControl, higher cost and need to be careful about overseas sellers as sensors are not accurate (likely no platinum).

Thermistor: Pros: Already in use on some systems being converted (BCS, STC), can be very accurate if quality,  easy to build your own, can have long cable lengths, very small thermowell needed, fast reading in multiples, inexpensive. Cons: few physical configurations available (though DIY can make any type), signal can be noisy in certain electrical environments if unshielded cable is used, requires additional circuitry (e.g. thermistor filter board) to reduce noise and create voltage divider appropriate for BruControl interface.

I am buying a UM-1-ME for my UniCon build, I want to use Tri-Clamp RTD sensors so what other assemblies do I need from you for my build?
